We made pop rockets using a film canister, an antacid tablet and some water.  We learnt that when water is added to the tablet, little bubbles escape.  They go up because they weigh less than water.  When the bubbles reach the surface of the water they break open.  The gas that escapes from the bubbles pushes on the sides of the canister.  The canister can’t stretch so the gas pushes up the top and POP the air and water rush out and push the lid up.
