On Friday rooms 4 and 5 went on a trip to Tiritiri Matangi Island. First we went on the bus. We had to be at school by 8:OOam so the ferry could keep to it’s schedule.   Our bus driver was early on the trip to Gulf Harbour.  Next we got on the ferry. The ferry’s name was Takahe.  Soon we arrived at the Island. First we had to listen to some rules about the Island.

Next we started our walk up to the lighthouse.   The first bird we saw was a fantail.   Our group almost got to see the brown teal but our guide took us further along the wattle track.   When we got into the bush, we saw the North Island saddleback.   Next we saw a robin.   It was hard to see it in the bush.   We went a little further along the track and we saw a kereru.   The birds we saw after that was: A stichbird, a parakeet, another keruru. Soon we got to the lighthouse. First we saw a takahe.   Then we had lunch.   After lunch, we got into our normal groups.   I saw a pukeko.   Then we did a scavenger hunt.
