This month we carried out a waste wise audit to see how well we were achieving our goal of reducing the waste we create at school. Student representatives from all the classes helped in the audit which involved sorting, weighing and measuring the waste collected over one day at school. Although there didn’t look like much there was quite a lot of rubbish heading for the wheelie bins that could have been recycled. There was a bag of food waste that could have gone in the worm farm or the compost. There was also a lot of paper that could have been put in the recycle bins on our recycle day. We are now looking at improving our systems to make it easier to ensure our waste goes in the right places.
